MCMASTER FOOTBALL ADDS KEVIN EIBEN AS DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR

HAMILTON- With the start of training camp just over a month away, McMaster head coach Stefan Ptaszek is happy to announce the appointment of Kevin Eiben as the new defensive coordinator for the Marauder football team.

A name that is very familiar to Canadian football fans, Eiben moves into the CIS coaching ranks after completing a stellar career as a linebacker in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Drafted by Toronto out of Bucknell University in 2001, Eiben was named to the East Division All-Star team five times and was a three-time All-CFL selection. He was a member of Toronto's Grey Cup championship winning squad in 2004.

After playing the 2012 season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Eiben announced his retirement as an active player and assumed a front office position with the Ti-Cats as the coordinator of premium seat marketing for the new Hamilton Stadium, slated to open in 2014.

"I am extremely excited to move into university coaching, especially with such a great program," said the native of Delta, B.C. "I'm really looking forward to staying involved with football on the field and passing along my experience and what I've learned at the next level, which is what it's all about."

The appointment of Eiben comes after a thorough process conducted by Coach Ptaszek, after the departure of Greg Knox, who joined the staff at the University of Toronto in May.

"We are very excited to welcome Kevin as our new defensive coordinator," said Coach Ptaszek of his newest staff member. "I am extremely confident that Coach Eiben will join our other defensive coaches (Mark Forsyth, Tom Pain, Frank Gesztesi and Carm Genovese) in pushing our student-athletes to new levels, both on and off the field."

The Marauders will start training camp for the 2013 OUA season on August 15th and open regular season play at home on Sunday, August 25th when the Ottawa Gee-Gees visit Ron Joyce Stadium.
