The Marauders headed to Guelph on September 25 to take on the Guelph Gryphons for the first time this season. The Gryphons got the better of the Wednesday night clash, defeating the Marauders 14-9. The result moves McMaster's record to 2-4 at the halfway mark of the 2013 season.
Carter Williams led the Marauders with four goals on the night.
Guelph's Taylor Brown opened the scoring in the first quarter, but McMaster quickly shot into the lead after power play goals by Mark Phillips and Williams. Guelph scored its second goal of the night 18 minutes in to level the game through the first quarter.
McMaster would score three in the second quarter, but Guelph stayed a step ahead with four of their own. The Gryphons continued to press their advantage in the third, and had scored six consecutive goals when Williams snapped the streak with a goal to end the third quarter.
Guelph scored another four goals in the final quarter, while McMaster would put in another three, including Alex Goacher's first of the season.
Sunday, September 29 saw the Marauders play their annual Alumni Game at McMaster's Alumni Field. The team returns to conference action on Wednesday, when they welcome the Brock Badgers to Alumni Field. That game is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 p.m.
