MARAUDERS SPOIL BROCK HOMECOMING IN WOMEN'S RUGBY ACTION

St. Catharines, Ont. – The McMaster women's rugby team tallied another win for the season over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon on the road. The final score, in favour of the Marauders would read 34-12.

McMaster's Sarah Berry (East York, Ont.) opened the scoring eight minutes into the game with her first try of the 2012 season. Stephanie Black (Ottawa, Ont.) would add the convert to put the Marauders up 7-0.

Brock freshman Morgan Houde-Pearce (Trenton, Ont.) would answer nine minutes later with a try, bringing the Badgers back within two points 7-5.

Late in the first half, Berry and Black added back-to-back tries in the 33rd and 36th minutes to put the Marauders up 17-5 at the half.

The Marauders' Hannah Braithwaite (Kingston, Ont.) came out strong in the second half giving her team two tries in the 54th and 58th minutes. Just under 20 minutes later, Claire Lockhart (Waterloo, Ont.) would add her first try of the game and Black would collect her second convert giving her a total of nine points on the day.

With two minutes left in regulation, Brock sophomore Hannah Wilson (Trenton, Ont.) would break through the McMaster defense for her first try of the game and second on the season. Freshman Taylor Ward (Keene, Ont.) would tack on the convert, but that was as close as the Badgers would come.

McMaster will finish off the regular season at home with a match up with the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday at 1pm.
