Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster men's lacrosse team suffered their third loss of the season to the visiting Western Mustangs on Sunday afternoon by a score of 6-4.
The first quarter scoring didn't open up until there was just six minutes left. Marauder Jamie Batten scored the goal with an assist by Carter Williams. The Mustangs scored two goals following that from Scott Watson and Sam Neeb to take the lead 2-1.
The low scoring game continued with just a goal per team in the second. Scoring for McMaster was Mark Phillips on the power play, assisted by Batten. For Western, the goal came from Dylan Ham.
In the third quarter, the Marauders were unable to stop Ham. He would score the next three goals, putting McMaster down 6-2.
Despite scoring two more goals before the end of the game, the Mustangs held on for the win. Tristan Schram scored at the end of the third with the assist coming from Batten and in the fourth, Ryan Adams scored thanks to an assist from Phillips.
Next up for the Marauders is a road game against a strong Guelph team on September 20.
