Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster men's lacrosse team earned their third win of the 2011 season over the Western Mustangs. The Marauders are now tied for third in the CUFLA West Division with the Mustangs with a 3-3 record.
McMaster lead Western at 4-2 and would hold a steady lead until the dying minutes of the game. Scoring in the first for the Marauders was Carter Williams with two, Mark Phillips and Mitchell Iszkula.
In the third quarter, Cam Murphy would score his first of the game along with two more by Williams. Western would also score three making the score 7-5 going into the final quarter of the game.
In the fourth, Western and McMaster would trade goals, Marauder Dan Lapanensee scoring his first of the game until Western scored twice more to tie the score up 8-8 with less than two minutes to go. Marauder Cam Murphy would close out the match with three seconds left on the clock on a bouncing shot that the Western goal keeper couldn't handle for the game winner.
The Marauders host the Guelph Gryphons next Wednesday on Alumni Field in hopes of continuing their two game win streak.
