WOMEN’S RUGBY ONE STEP FROM THE NATIONALS

The McMaster women’s rugby team will host the Brock Badgers in OUA semi-final play this Saturday, October 22 at 12-noon on the 10-acre field.

The winner of the semi-final will advance to the OUA final, but will also gain entry into the CIS Women’s Rugby Championship at Trent University, November 3-6, 2011. Both the OUA champion and runner-up qualify for this year’s national championship event.

Not looking past their next opponent the Marauders, currently ranked 5th in the CIS top-ten, take on Brock after defeating Toronto 48-0 in the quarter-finals. Brock advanced with a 13-10 overtime win over Waterloo.

The other semi-final has Queen’s travelling to play at Guelph. Guelph is currently ranked second in Canada, while Queen’s checks in 8th in the top-ten.

The two semi-final winners will meet for the OUA championship on Saturday, October 29, 2011, while the semi-final losers will play for the OUA bronze medal. Game times and location to be confirmed after the semi-finals are complete.
