HAMILTON, Ont. – Mike Demagus, a 6'4" guard from the McMaster Marauders, has been selected 22nd overall by the Brampton Honey Badgers in the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) Draft.
Demagus has been a key player of the Marauders since 2019, contributing significantly to the team's success. His strategic play and strong performance have earned him great recognition over the seasons, including being named an OUA West Second Team All-Star in the 2021-22 season.
In the 2024-25 season, Demagus played 519 minutes, averaging 26.0 minutes per game. He scored a total of 244 points, had 24 steals, and recorded 90-211 field goals.
Marauders head coach
Patrick Tatham expressed his excitement for Demagus' professional opportunity. "We are excited and happy that Mike gets the opportunity to kickstart his career after McMaster as a Professional for the Honey Badgers. He wrapped up a good career with the McMaster Men's Basketball Program, trusting the development plan we laid out for him over five seasons. Now, it's such a satisfying feeling to see all of his hard work is paying off," said Tatham.
The Honey Badgers finished in fourth in the Eastern Conference in the 2024 season, with a 5-5 record at home. Demagus will now play in front of a loyal fan base at the CAA Centre as he looks forward to advancing his professional career.
Congratulations to Demagus on this remarkable achievement.
