CAMBRIDGE, Ont. – The Marauder men capped off their season this weekend at the 2025 OUA Men's Curling Championships, held at the Galt Country Club.
McMaster's first match was against the Waterloo Warriors. The Birds got out to a hot 2-0 start after the first two ends. However, the Warriors responded during the third end, evening the score out at 2-2. The Marauders kept up the pressure, doubling their total score after the fourth end. Ultimately, after play in extra ends, the Warriors put points on the board in four of the final five ends, and the Birds fell 6-5.
The Marauders found rebounded against the Western Mustangs, dominating their final Friday match with a 7-1 victory. Western opened the scoring in the first end, but then it was all McMaster from there. The Marauders managed seven points over four ends, including a crucial three-rock advantage in the fifth.
Day two proved more challenging. The Marauders had a slow start against the Laurier Golden Hawks who jumped out to a 5-0 advantage after the first and defeated the Birds 10-3 within five ends. During their final qualifying match, the maroon fell behind early to the York Lions. Later in the seventh end, McMaster battled back and recorded four points but ultimately came up short and fell 9-8.
With a 1-3 record in qualifying play, the Marauders did not advance to the playoffs, bringing their season to a close.
