Box Score LONDON, Ont. — The McMaster Marauders (4-4, 7
th seed) took on the Western Mustangs (7-1, 2
nd seed) in the OUA Quarterfinals.
The Mustangs began with the ball and put together a 7-play drive that led to a touchdown. The Marauders were unable to score back on their first drive, however,
Michael Horvat's (Hamilton, Ont.) 34-yard punt was recovered by
Ethan Stuart (Oakville, Ont.) which placed McMaster in a prime spot to score. Marauders quarterback,
Keagan Hall (Burlington, Ont.), rushed for 20 yards, setting up the maroon's first score on a Horvat field goal, 7-3 Mustangs.
The Mustangs drove the play for the remainder of the half including scoring three touchdowns, two field goals and a safety, which extended the Mustangs lead to 36-3.
The Marauders marched down the field on their last drive of the half. Hall completed three long passes to
Everett Reid (Winnipeg, Man.),
Nathan Denkers (Hamilton, Ont.) and
Nicholas Adair (Kingston, Ont.) to set the Marauders up in good field position with time winding down. On the last play of the half, Hall connected with Denkers for a touchdown, ending the half on a positive note, 36-10 Mustangs.
The third quarter did not have much success from either offense as Western scored the lone score of the half with a touchdown which extended their lead to 43-10. The Mustangs added another field goal late in the fourth quarter and the game would finish 46-10.
The Marauders would fall short of their OUA Championship hopes as they were eliminated, ending their 2024 campaign.
