The Marauders spent lots of time competing in the pool this past weekend, full of podium finishes and personal bests. They competed at a Tri Meet with the Waterloo Warriors and Guelph Gryphons on Saturday in their IWC pool, and then travelled to the OUA Invite in Toronto on Sunday. 

Saturday, Jan. 20th: Tri Meet with the Waterloo Warriors and Guelph Gryphons 

Saturday's home meet brought lots of podium finishes from McMaster swimmers. The team came away with 20 golds, 11 silver, and 15 bronze to wipe out the Waterloo Warriors and Guelph Gryphons. First years Sam Chishom and Kalen Murray had great performances, showing the potential being built in the Marauders' program.  

On the men's side, Chisholm had a great day with two golds in the 200m and 400m Free, while setting a personal best in the 400m. Captain Cameron Johnsen came away with golds in his two events, the 50m and 100m Breast, with the 50m being a personal best. Alongside his teammates, Murray swam to two golds in the 50m and 100m Back. Between the three, the Marauders proved extremely dominant across three of the four main strokes.  

On the women's side, Shaunna Walker-DeJong remained a force to be reckoned with for McMaster, swimming to two golds in the 50m and 100m Free. Six of the women came out with individual golds, including Mikaela Blake in the 100m Back, Megan Deering in the 50m Breast, Sophia Hanson in the 400m IM, Andie Lloyd in the 400m Free, and Leah Russell in the 50m Back.  

 
Both the Marauders' women's and men's 4x100m Free as well as 4x100m Medley relay teams finished first, showing their dominance across the field. 

Sunday, Jan. 21st: OUA Invite at Toronto Varsity Blues 

After a strong team performance on Saturday, the Marauders headed to the University of Toronto for the OUA & Club Winter Invitational. McMaster's team found themselves against some steeper competition, facing off against one of the top schools, the Toronto Varsity Blues. The Marauders fought hard and earned themselves four gold finishes, three silver, and six bronze.  

On the men's side, first year Hayden Yeung had a phenomenal performance, earning two golds in the 50m and 100m Breast. The swimmer from Hong Kong earned the McMaster's men their only two individual golds in the meet. Another first year, Murray, who had a strong performance on Saturday, came out to compete in Toronto, earning a silver in the 200m Back and bronze in the 100m Back.  

On the women's side, Blake and Deering picked up the two individual golds for the women, in the 100m Fly and 50m Breast, respectively. Emma-Jane Fowler, a first year from Woodstock, Ont., had a great performance with two bronzes in the 200m Fly and 400m IM.

The Marauders will now look forward to competing on Feb. 15th at the OUA Championships hosted by the Brock Badgers, where the swimmers will hope to qualify for the U SPORTS Championship.
