HAMILTON - Nathalie Hilbert of the McMaster rowing team and Nicolas Dessureault of the Marauders golf team are the Marauder Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 24th.
Hilbert, a fourth-year engineering physics and society student from Elmira, Ontario, won gold in the open 1x at the 2023 Guelph Invite this past Saturday. Competing against rowers from the Western Mustangs, Brock Badgers, Waterloo Warriors, Guelph Gryphons and Toronto Varsity Blues in the timed trials, Nathalie completed the course in 8:10, good for third place. In the finals, she crossed the finish line in first with a time of 8:03, five seconds better than second place, to earn gold.
With a round of -4 (66), Dessureault secured the best individual score of the day at the McMaster Invitational at Chippewa Creek Golf & Country Club on Sunday, which was an impressive five shots better than his next closest competitor to earn gold. Dessureault's performance also helped secure his team the silver medal position at their home tournament. A day earlier at the Brock Invitational, the Oakville local majoring in commerce, finished tT2 with a 73 (+2) at the Sawmill Golf Course in Fenwick.
