McMaster collects a pair of bronze medals at OUA Rowing Championships, along with Junior Varsity medals

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - This weekend's OUA Rowing Championships saw the Marauders take home two Varsity and two Junior Varsity medals. Both our women's and men's squads placed 9th overall, making the podium in individual events. Although they weren't able to match last year's performance, they put on a good showing, especially for such a young and growing team.

Nathalie Hilbert, the star of the team, won the bronze medal in Women's Varsity 1x. Last year at the 2022 OUA Championships, Nathalie became the first Marauder in recent history to win a gold medal. It was no surprise that she added to her collection this year.

Second year student Jonathan (Jonny) Diakopoulos also won a bronze medal in the Men's Varsity Lightweight 2- event, along with his partner Trevor Tung. This was Jonny's first year competing in the Varsity program and he didn't disappoint.

Our Junior Varsity rowers made their mark at the tournament, as well. In the Women's 2x event, Brooke McCoy and Olivia Richardson bagged the gold, while Hayden Taylor and Sienna Munro followed closely behind for the silver.

Congratulations to the entire rowing team for their impressive effort and 9th place finish. Some of the rowers may go on to compete in the Canadian University Rowing Championships being held in Burnaby, BC this November, in which case we wish them the best of luck!
