This is the first and only time that McMaster and Western meet during regular season. The Marauders and Mustangs battled three times during the 2021-22 season winning 3-0 (25-16, 29-27, 25-23) in their first matchup, and winning 3 sets to 1 (26-24, 25-14, 14-25, 26-24) in their second matchup. The teams battled a third and final time in the OUA Quarterfinals where Western ended up on top after a hard-fought battle of five sets (25-23, 23-25, 25-11, 23-25, 11-15). Western then fell to the Brock Badgers in the OUA West Finals 0-3. Both teams will enter this upcoming Friday night game with strong momentum. After downing the Lakehead Thunderbirds 3 sets to 0 both Friday night (25-11, 25-19, 25-9) and Saturday night (25-13, 25-22, 25-16), McMaster will look to continue their win streak. The Mustang women are also coming off of back-to-back wins after beating TMU 3-1 Friday night (25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 26-24), and 3-0 Saturday night (25-20, 25-17, 25-12). Â
After hitting the road to take on Western, the Marauders then return to Hamilton to defend their home court at 8pm on Saturday against the York Lions.
