Four Marauders earn men's soccer OUA All-Star selections

BURLINGTON, Ont. – The OUA revealed the 2022 All-Stars for men's soccer on Thursday and four Marauders received recognition. Leading the way for the Marauders, Miles Green (Toronto, Ont.) was named a First Team All-Star while Gianluca Spadafora (Hannon, Ont.), Ahmad Mansour (Waterdown, Ont.) and Ethan Cagalj (Stoney Creek, Ont.) earned Second Team All-Star selections.

Green, a fifth-year studying geography and environmental sciences who hails from Toronto, Ont., played in ten of the Marauders' games this regular season. The forward was the leading scorer for the Marauders, recording six goals, including two game winners. He also tallied two assists for a total of eight points. Green ranked second in the OUA in total shots with 42. In the post-season, he has found the back of the net twice more, including the game winner against the Nipissing Lakers in the OUA semi-final.


Gianluca Spadafora - OUA Second Team All-Star
Midfielder

A fourth-year midfielder studying environment & society and sociology, Spadafora has been a staple in the centre of the field for the Marauders. The Hannon local has been key in controlling the pace of the game and has been an integral part of both the attack and defence for McMaster. The team captain has provided veteran leadership on both sides of the ball and has been a key ball distributor this season.


Ahmad Mansour - OUA Second Team All-Star

Mansour, a fifth-year from Waterdown studying kinesiology, was the core of the Marauders' back line this season. An experienced defender, Mansour played in nine of McMaster's regular season games. He recorded one goal, a game winner, on four shots this season and was integral to limiting the opposition's attack in his first year in the maroon and grey.


Ethan Cagalj - OUA Second Team All-Star

A first-year goalkeeper studying media arts, Cagalj impressed in the Marauder net. The Stoney Creek local ranked third in the conference in saves with 58 and had a .841 save percentage in the regular season. The rookie played in nine games for the Marauders and recorded a 1.22 goals against average. In the post-season, Cagalj has made 13 saves for a .929 save percentage and picked up a clean sheet in the OUA semi-final.
 
After defeating the Nipissing Lakers in an OUA semi-final contest on Wednesday night, the Marauders will now face the TMU Bold in the OUA title game on Saturday night in Toronto before heading to the U SPORTS Championship in Kamloops, B.C. next week.
