HAMILTON, Ont. - The Marauders women's rugby team closed out the OUA regular season at home on Friday night against the #8 nationally-ranked Brock Badgers.
With a home playoff berth on the line, the Marauders needed a win in order to earn the right to play at home in the post-season.
In what was McMaster's closest game of the season, the maroon and grey pieced together an incredible second half performance to propel the Marauders to a 24-20 victory over the Badgers.
Â
Brock opened the scoring on Friday night to take an early lead at Ron Joyce Stadium but McMaster responded. The Marauders put up twelve points in the first 40 minutes but trailed 15-12 at the break.
After returning to the field, McMaster pushed for the lead, keeping it close. But it wasn't until the final minutes of play that the Marauders scored the go-ahead try to secure the win and home field advantage in the first round of playoffs.
Osa Olaye (Mississauga, Ont.) had arguably the game of her career recording three tries, one of which was the game winner.
Taylor Wood (Uxbridge, Ont.) added another try, her sixth of the 2022 campaign. Captain,
Katie McLeod (Richmond Hill, Ont.), added two converts to her season total.
Â
The Marauders end the regular season with a 4-2 record and sit tied for third with the Western Mustangs.
