MARAUDERS WELCOME NEWEST RECRUIT, ABBY DELAMERE

In McMaster Marauders women's volleyball news, Head Coach, Tim Louks kicks-off his 2022-23 recruit class with the signing of Abby Delamere to his 2022-2023 recruit class.

"We are very excited to announce Abby's commitment to study and compete at McMaster," said Head Coach, Women Volleyball, Tim Louks. "She is a very focussed, intense player and student. We were very impressed quickly about her dedication to learning, developing and competing at the University level supporting her desire to be an even better player. She will have an immediate impact on the program and her teammates with her intensity and performance. A very strong jumper already, and will only continue to get stronger on her journey."

Delamere is currently in her senior year at Humberside Collegiate Institute, with intentions of entering the Life Science program in the fall of 2022. She has played for the Titans Volleyball club since the start of her club career on the U13 team.

"I chose McMaster because it is a place where I can reach my goals, both athletically, and academically," said Delamere. "I am excited to be joining a well-established program with such a competitive atmosphere. I can't wait to build bonds and grow with my new team!"

Delamere competed at provincial levels on numerous occasions with the Regional Team (Region 5) in 2018, Team Ontario's 2019 White Program, the 2020 Team Ontario Red Program, and Team Ontario's 2021 Canada Games Training Program. During which, she received the Ontario Volleyball Association's (OVA) Team Award of Excellence Award in 2017 (13U), 2018 (14U), and 2019 (15U).

"I am excited to continue to play volleyball at a high level and grow as an athlete," continued Delamere, "I am so grateful for the opportunities this sport has awarded me and I am looking forward to new opportunities in the future."

Delamere's accolades continue from there. In 2018, she captured gold on the regional Ontario Summer Games team, and went on to win the title of 2020 City Champions, as well as a fifth-place finish at her OFSAA appearance with the Humberside girls varsity team.

Louks continued, "A fantastic fit, a commitment very early in her decision making - she envisioned being part of McMaster very early in her plan. Outstanding to have that vision and dedication arriving in our program. She will be very exciting to watch compete!"
