McMaster University's Department of Athletics & Recreation today officially unveiled a bold, rejuvenated logo, as the program has shifted to a new identity, the McMaster Sea Turtles.
Â
"We felt it was time for a new look," said
Mike Cathcart, Marketing Coordinator. "The Marauders were impactful, but we felt there was a more resilient image that reflected our department."
Â
After a series of in-depth surveys, and campus wide research, the redesign of the McMaster brand includes a distinct new logo and colour way established in honour of the alumni community and will prove critical for the next generation of incoming Sea Turtles to campus.
Â
The new logo marks a shift for the program that was synonymous with Maroon for decades. Charting a new path in its history, the change is universally welcomed, and the anticipation marks a period of excitement for a brand that is currently operating at the peak of its creativity.
Â
Featuring a sleek forest green theme, the new logo is highlighted by a prominent front facing sea turtle, affectionately dubbed 'Franklin'. The design and slogan includes a modern take that pays tribute to the department's underlying goals for the new year, #SeaTheChange.
Â
Merchandise in this new design is expected to hit the campus bookstore shelves in time for the new school year in September. Activities and events to introduce the new mascot, as well as the design and logo, are planned to take part throughout welcome week on campus.

Go Sea Turtles!
