96TH ANNUAL ATHLETIC AWARDS NIGHT & ANNOUNCEMENT OF TEAM MVPs

With the 2019-20 athletic season coming to an abrupt and unfortunate end, much of the Marauders events scheduled for the remainder of the school year followed suit.

Included in these cancelled events was the 96th edition of the McMaster Athletics Awards night.

But the department of Athletics & Recreation has come together and decided our student-athletes that don the Maroon so proudly deserved to be recognized for all their efforts.

In that same breath, the department has decided that the show must go on.

During the week of March 23rd – 27th, the finalists from each of the nine major award categories will be announced on our social media channels, starting today at 2pm with the Joyce Wignall Award finalists.

The lead up of award announcements will culminate in a one-hour online awards show on Sunday, March 29th starting at 7pm. Over the course of the hour we will release the winners of each major award – all taking place on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels.

Leading the week of finalists is the announcement of our 50 team MVPs across McMaster's sport offerings. With plenty of familiar faces, Alex DroverBriana WiceNoah HallettEmily Heming, and Jack McRogers all repeat as their respective team MVPs.

Fifth-year distance swimmer, Mitch Muizelaar, picks up his fourth consecutive MVP award.

Caroline Forbes, who was named the female track winner last season, has now earned the same honour in cross country this season.

Nordic Skiing features a pair of athletes on the list, after competing in their first season in recent history.

After sharing co-recipient honours a year ago for their respective teams, Jessie Nairn, and Ameen Aghamirian both return to the list this year.
