Women's Soccer: Mac Knocked Out of OUA Playoffs with 2-0 Loss to Laurier

A double from Maxine Murchie proved the difference in Waterloo Wednesday.

Box Score Riding a three-match winning streak as they entered the playoffs Wednesday, McMaster's hopes of a deep conference run were denied at the familiar first hurdle.

For the fifth consecutive season, the Marauders were defeated in the opening round of the OUA playoffs, falling 2-0 to the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo.

Laurier's Maxine Murchie provided both goals on the night, striking in the 44th and 70th minutes for the double, while Ashley Almeida picked up the clean sheet for the Hawks.

McMaster directed seven shots on goal, with rookie forward Lindsay Bosveld boasting three of those, but were unable to turn any of their chances into breakthroughs in the loss.

The last playoff win for the Marauders came in 2012, when they advanced to the OUA semi-final stage.
