TORONTO (CIS) – The McMaster rowing program will be well represented in September, when the FISU World University Rowing Championship gets underway. Marauder veterans
Logan Madill and
D'Arcy Arends were among the competitors named on Monday, as Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced the 21 student-athletes who will represent Canada at the event in Poznan, Poland, September 2-4.
McMaster assistant coach Jake Thomasen, meanwhile, was named to the coaching staff for the event, under the leadership of Victoria's Rick Crowley.
Playing an important part in a breakthrough season for McMaster's rowers, Madill was a member of the heavyweight men's eight crew that won the school's first-ever medal in the event at the OUA Championships in 2015. He followed with a fourth-placed effort alongside decorated teammate Karl Zimmermann at the Canadian University Rowing Championships in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
The captain of the Marauder women's team, Arends similarly achieved an encouraging result at the national championship event in 2015, finishing fifth in the women's single.

Christie and Peters have also both represented Canada as members of the national World U23 team in 2013 and 2015.
