Box Score The Marauders took care of business swiftly in their final game of the regular season on Saturday, and look to the playoffs after an efficient weekend sweep. Mac led early and often in North Bay, sweeping the Nipissing Lakers in three fairly routine sets.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-22 and 25-16 for the Marauders, who finished the season with a 16-3 record and will enter the playoffs as the second seed in the OUA West. Their first playoff hurdle comes in the form of the Windsor Lancers, who they host in an OUA quarterfinal match on Friday, February 26.
Rookie Rachel Woock continued to show her promising late-season form in the win, leading Mac with 11.5 points while hitting 30 per cent on 10 of 26 attempts versus two errors, while adding a block and a half. Middle Maicee Sorensen also hit double digits in points, with eight kills and three blocks.
McMaster managed to work through their bench in the win, and found a cameo appearance for Alicia Jack, who continues her return from an injury that has derailed her for a large chunk of the season.
The Marauders effectively ground their opponents' offence to a halt, holding Nipissing to a negative hitting percentage and a points-earned total of just 30 through three sets, while hitting 26 per cent and earning 48 points themselves.
Note: a previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the Marauders had clinched the division.
