Women's Soccer: Marauders and Badgers Goalfest Ends in 3-3 Draw

Box Score Momentum swung multiple times on Sunday, and where it ultimately stopped was a stalemate, as the Marauders and Badgers settled for a draw in St. Catharines.

Three separate leads were erased in a high-scoring game which saw the teams each pot three goals. The trio of Steph Roberts, Talia Merino-Sierra and Maureen Mai scored for McMaster, while Laura Kirk had a pair of goals for Brock and Olivia Schramowsky added a solo tally.

The host Badgers enjoyed a dream start to Sunday's match when Schramowsky opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but their lead would prove short-lived. Just 12 minutes later, Roberts would bag the first goal of her varsity career to bring the Marauders level, a 1-1 score that would hold into the halftime break.

McMaster struck in the 54th to take a 2-1 lead when Merino-Sierra took her turn scoring her first varsity goal, but much as the visitors had in the first half, the hosts hit back 12 minutes later, as Kirk bagged her first goal of the match to draw Brock level in the 66th minute.

Floodgates officially open, Mac's Maureen Mai added her name to the score sheet just four minutes later to retake the lead for the Marauders at 3-2, and the visitors looked set for the victory as the teams edged toward injury time. But in those added minutes, Kirk managed to score her second and steal a point for the Badgers.

Squarely at .500 with a 2-2-2 record, the Marauders will look to re-enter the win column in a week's time, as they return to the friendly confines of Ron Joyce Stadium to take on the Western Mustangs on Saturday, September 19.
