The Marauders travelled to Varsity Stadium to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues in a "win and get in" 12th and final game of their regular season. Mac knew going into the game that they controlled their own playoff destiny, and they made the most of that fact by securing a hard-fought, 13-10.

McMaster got things off to a good start when Brandon Petter and Ryan Adams  both found the mark to give Mac a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter, the score was knotted at three. The Marauders outscored Toronto 3-2 in the second quarter to go into the half with a slight 6-5 lead.

The third quarter saw the wheels fall off for the Mac squad. They had some costly turnovers, took some penalties and surrendered five unanswered goals falling behind by a score of 10-7 going into the fourth quarter.  Mac's play-off life was fading.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the skies opened up and the rain started falling, but somehow, it seemed to give new life to the Marauders. McMaster shut out Toronto in the final quarter and came out on top 13-10.

"I was very impressed with the composure of our guys," said McMaster head coach Jason Tallevi. "We got down three goals, and it wasn't looking great for us, but we continued to work hard and it started to pay off.If we play like we are capable of, we can beat anyone."

Mitch Iszulka led the Mac attack with five points, Jamie Batten and Ryan Adams each had three goals, Derrick Hastings and Brandon Petter had three points each, while Eric Desjardins collected his first CUFLA goal and provided solid midfield defence.

Placing fourth in the CUFLA after the regular season, McMaster (5-7) will travel to Guelph (8-4) next weekend to face the 3rd-placed Gryphons in the first round of the playoffs.
