Women's Soccer: Marauders Impress in Tight Loss to CIS No. 5 Hawks

Box Score A strong weekend continued for McMaster on Sunday, as the Marauders gave the CIS no. 5-ranked Laurier Golden Hawks all they could handle before succumbing to a 1-0 loss.

The Marauders outshot the Hawks 15-5 over the course of the afternoon, but were ultimately punished for their lack of a finishing touch. Nicole Lyon had the only goal of the game in 32nd minute for the Hawks, who improved to 10-2-2 with the win.

McMaster fell to 6-6-3 on the season, but remain in possession of fourth place in the OUA West despite the loss, and can clinch a home date in the first round of the playoffs with a favourable result in their final regular season game next weekend.

That game will come on Sunday, October 25, when McMaster plays host to the Guelph Gryphons -- who they handed a 2-0 defeat a day ago -- at Ron Joyce Stadium.
