MARAUDERS AND LIONS DRAW 0-0

In a hard fought OUA West division battle the McMaster women’s soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with the visiting York Lions.

The first half saw the Marauders carry the play early and apply good pressure on the Lions.  McMaster’s Stephanie Davis came close to giving her team the lead, but her strike from 20 yards out skimmed off the crossbar.

The second half was more of the same with McMaster applying early pressure, but York managed to pick up the pace and had two glorious chances from Colleen Beesley, who missed on a breakaway and then was denied by Mac keeper Brittany Duffey, who made a brilliant save in the 84th minute when it looked like Beesley had an open net.   Duffey played a strong game for the Marauders and deserves full marks for keeping her team even on the scoreboard.

Next action for Mac women’s soccer is Saturday, September 15 when the Guelph Gryphons visit Ron Joyce Stadium.  Game time is 1 pm.
