MARAUDER FOOTBALL TEAM PLAYS LION TAMER

Box Score The McMaster Marauders remained unbeaten through six games of the OUA football schedule after a 54-14 victory over the York Lions on Thursday night.

The Marauders didn’t get the start they wanted when the opening kick-off was fumbled away, but the turnover didn’t come back to hurt McMaster and the Marauders jumped out to a 13-0 lead, which they held at the end of the first quarter.

The Marauders extended the lead to 20-0 on a pass from Kyle Quinlan to Tyler Loveday, before the Lions got on the board with a second-quarter TD to get within 20-7.

But before the end of the quarter,  Quinlan hooked up with Brad Forchesato for a 62-yard scoring strike and Mac carried a 27-7 lead into the halftime break.

The second half saw a blocked punt by the Marauders set up another scoring drive, as McMaster continued to build up its lead in the second half. Kasean Davis scored his second touchdown of the game and Quinlan hit Andrin Masotti for a 78-yard TD, the first of his career.

With both teams working substitutes into the final quarter, Mac receiver Josh Vandeweerd scored his first CIS TD on a pass from Marshall Ferguson to make the score 54-7.  The Lions got a TD in the last minute to wrap up the scoring.
Make the final 54-14 in favour of the Maroon.

Kyle Quinlan's three TD passes leave him just three behind Ben Chapdelaine, who is McMaster's all-time leader for career touchdown passes.

The Marauders will now get to enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend break, before getting ready to face the Windsor Lancers at Homecoming.  The Homecoming game on October 13th is close to a sell out so get your tickets fast before they are all gone.
