Toronto - The McMaster Marauders took on the York Lions for the second time this season on Wednesday afternoon on the road. In their second match up of the season, McMaster would be unable to defeat the Lions.
In just the thirteenth minute, York would be called in the box and the Marauders would be awarded a penalty shot. Captain Mel Van Der Hoop (Oakville, Ont.) would make no mistake, scoring on the early opportunity.
Later in the first half, Lion Nour Ghoneim (Toronto) would score twice, just three minutes apart, to put the home team ahead by one. Before the half was over, the Lions would be awarded a penalty kick of their own and Ghoneim would get the hat trick, beating McMaster goalkeeper Brittany Duffey (Markham, Ont.).
The second half would go scoreless as the Lions would take down the Marauders by a score of 3-1.
The Marauders currently sit in fourth place in the OUA Wester with just one point separating them from the Lions for third. In fifth is the Guelph Gryphons, just one point behind McMaster. The Marauders hope to solidify a home playoff game and will look to do that over the last regular season games over the weekend.
The Marauders will head to Windsor to take on the Lancers on Saturday at 1pm and will face the Western Mustangs on Sunday, also at 1pm.
