MARAUDERS FAST PITCH TEAM STARTS OFF 2011 SEASON 4-0

Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster women’s fast pitch team took to the ball yard and looked very impressive in their season opener as the swept the first two games of their weekend series against Queen’s University at their home diamond, Mohawk Sports Complex.

The Marauder’s took the opening game by a score of 10-5 behind the power of Brittany Hicks and Shelby Montour driving in 4 RBI’s each. Kaylyn Roloson and Hicks split the win.

In the second game against Queens, McMaster got on the scoreboard early with Shannon Mayhew with a
single and cashed in by Hicks. In the top of the 3
rd, Hannah Hallsworth started the inning off with a walk and Sam Naylor moved her around the bases with a single to left field. Hicks came up to the plate and drove the ball deep to centre field for a triple and 2 RBI’s.  Naylor shut Queen’s down in the bottom of the inning where the bases were loaded by making a diving catch to stop the line drive from going through. Queens simply could not capitalize against the strong Marauder defence.

McMaster came to play ball this weekend” said McMaster’s University head Coach Ken Oda.  “Our team brought their A game against Queen’s and we wanted to win and it showed”.

On Sunday, September 11 the McMaster Marauder’s hit the field ready to face York University at Mohawk Sports complex in Hamilton, ON.  Mac came up with their first game against York 7-0.  Roloson started the game on the mound and was relieved by Hicks.
