Hamilton, Ont. - The McMaster Marauders took down the Brock Badgers on Friday night to move back to second place in the OUA West standings.
The Marauders battled all game with the Badgers through slippery conditions the entire game. Dominating the Badgers for the majority of the game, the Marauders were unable to score in regular time due to a tough Brock back field.
Brittany Duffey (Markham, Ont.) made some key saves in the second half to keep the Marauders in it and Tara Dawdy (Burlington, Ont.) kept the pressure on up front.
In extra time, the Marauders last opportunity to score was a successful one. On a free kick about 35 yards out, Melanie Van Der Hoop (Oakville, Ont.) connected with Natalie Kollars (Burlington, Ont.) for a goal that skipped past Brock goalie Luciana Di Paolo (Newmarket, Ont.) for the only goal of the match.
Duffey earned her sixth shut out of the season and her second in a row for the Marauders.
McMaster sits in second place in the West ahead of the Windsor Lancers by one point with just two regular season games left to go.
