Soh-Lee Jung (Chatham, Ont.) and Men's Golf's
Sai Ganju (Oakville, Ont.) have been crowned this week's TwelvEighty Athletes of the Week following standout performances in last week.
Soh-Lee Jung (Chatham, Ont.)
Soh-Lee Jung delivered a standout performance on Friday, helping the McMaster Marauders earn a commanding 53-10 victory over the Waterloo Warriors at Ron Joyce Stadium.
Starting at outside centre, Jung earned recognition from her coaching staff as McMaster's defensive player of the game. Her strong defensive effort helped the Marauders limit Waterloo to two tries, while her leadership and support for teammates stood out throughout the contest.
Jung was equally influential with ball in hand, making smart decisions and contributing at least three assists. Her playmaking helped fuel a balanced McMaster attack that produced eight tries, with seven different Marauders crossing the line.
Praised as a leader both on and off the field, Jung combined defensive excellence with exceptional support play to help her teammates succeed.
Her contributions on both sides of the ball made her a key part of McMaster's convincing victory on home turf.
Sai Ganju (Oakville, Ont.)
Sai Ganju led the McMaster Marauders at the University of Toronto Invitational, finishing atop the men's individual leaderboard and helping McMaster secure first place in the team standings.
Ganju carded a one-over-par 73, finishing one stroke ahead of Guelph's Andreas Diogenous and Windsor's Tyler Hurtubise, who each shot 74. His score was the lowest among 63 finishers, giving the Marauders a crucial advantage in a closely contested team competition.
McMaster finished with a combined score of 315, edging Wilfrid Laurier by a single stroke. Guelph placed third with 319, four shots behind the Marauders.
Ganju's performance anchored McMaster's scoring group, which also included
Rowan Reynard with a 78 and
Christian Ligori and
Matthew Martel with matching rounds of 82.
With both Ganju and the team finishing first, the Marauders enjoyed a successful outing, highlighted by his field-leading round and its decisive contribution to McMaster's narrow victory over the rest of the field.
