THUNDER BAY, Ont. - This weekend, McMaster battled against 9 other schools at the Lappe Nordic Ski Centre for the OUA Championships. The team competed over two days of sunny weather, ending with the women placing 6th and the men placing 9th. It may not have been the outcome they had hoped for, but there were multiple strong performances nonetheless. 

DAY ONE RECAP

Saturday featured the 7.5km classic event and the team relays. Anna Harris led the women's side with her 26:43.0 time bringing her to a 21st place individual finish. She joined teammates Laura Harris and Ingrid Pedersen for the relay, where McMaster took the 7th place spot. 

The men's relay competition ended with a 9th place finish for the Marauder team, made up of David Harris, Nick Sammon, and Justin Crabtree.

DAY TWO RECAP

On Sunday, the athletes took to the snow to trek in the 15km freestyle event. Anna Harris impressed once again, placing 14th of 50 skiers with a 47:32.2 time. Combining her races over the weekend, her total time of 1:14:15 was just 3 minutes shy of gaining her an OUA All-Star recognition. 

First-year David Harris had the best finish on the men's side as he slid in at 29th place of 65 skiers on a 43:20.4 time. 

END OF THE SEASON

With the OUA Championships now finished, today marks the end of the season for the Nordic Skiing team. The Marauders worked extremely hard this winter, training in the frigid weather and taking part in 7 competitions.
