Marauders silence Badgers' win streak in overtime

Returning to Burridge after a five-game away, and win, streak the Marauders came to ball. After the last matchup went Brock's way, the Marauders sought redemption, and that they did as they took tonight's game in overtime 84-80.

Four Marauders scored their way into double digits with 19 from Amy Stinson, 17 from Emily Frankovic, 14 from Jenna Button, and 11 from Sophia Urosevic.

Kicking off the first quarter, the home team looked strong. Midway through the first quarter, the Marauders started to peel away from the Badgers finding a comfortable six-point lead. The Badgers matched up and closed the difference to one point. The largest lead was outdone in the second when the Marauders topped the Badgers by eight, with seven minutes to go. As the clock kept ticking, the Badgers kept clawing and coming back. The Marauders were falling behind in rebounds, being outdone 27-12, but pushing back and outdoing 15 to four on points off turnovers.

In a skill contest of a third, the Marauders hit 6 threes, with two coming back-to-back from Ashley Guerriero, leaving the bench and home crowd fired up.

The heat from the third translated into a united Marauder fourth. Notably, the Marauders improved their rebounds and grabs. With just under five minutes left, Deanna Mataseje snagged the steal and sent the ball off to Jordan Denkers, who found Amy Stinson who hit nothing but net. With Burridge buzzing, the Marauders were locked in.

A steal and layup for Brock broke the Marauders' lead into a tie, with just 59 seconds remaining. With 13.1 left on the clock, both teams were held at a deadlock of 73-73. An unsuccessful shot meant overtime. With a reset clock of 5:00, OT was shot-for-shot. When Mac was up by one possession, Delaney Bourget was fouled and brought the squad up by three. Facing harsh Marauders defence Brock was shorted options and shot for layup 2 - still down by one. With the crowd, the clock counted the final 10 seconds. 2 free throws from Amy Stinson lifted the Marauders up by 3 and closed the options for the first-placed OUA Central team.

Ending the Brock Badgers' 11-game win streak the Marauders grew theirs to six.
