HAMILTON, Ont. — On Saturday the McMaster Marauders (7-3) face the Queen's Gaels (7-2) at home.
The Marauders lost 60-56.
To get the Marauders on the board early, Emily Frankovic (Thornhill, Ont.) sank a jumper just as the shot clock expired. Frankovic added a reverse lay up to keep the Marauders ahead early in the quarter. The Marauders fell behind later in the first but Frankovic finished off the first half with a difficult layup to end the quarter with a score of 21-12.
Amy Stinson (Hamilton, Ont.) got the Marauders started in the second quarter hitting a jumper early on. Delaney Bourget (Sudbury, Ont.) followed up with a three from the corner. Deanna Mataseje (Ancaster, Ont.) kept the Marauders rolling with a three right after, forcing a Gaels timeout. Coming out of the timeout Bourget sunk yet another three. Despite a fast start to the quarter the Marauder finished the half behind the Gaels with a score of 35-26.
It would be Frankovic again for two to start the second half. Off a steal, Stinson would finish the play with a three to help the Marauders cut into the Gaels lead. Frankovic would finish the half with a drive down the middle for an easy layup. The Marauders would end the quarter behind 51-38.
Frankovic got the Marauders on the board early in the final quarter with a three. The Marauders battled back in the final quarter, but would fall 60-56 to the Gaels.
Next up: As the home game vs the Algoma Thunderbirds is postponed, the Marauders will be back in action in the new year when they head to Guelph to face the Gryphons on January 8th.
