HAMILTON, Ont. — The McMaster Marauders baseball team have yet to find their stride as they approach the final stretch of the season. However, the 3-7 Marauders are trending in the right direction as they had two dominant wins against the fifth place, York Lions (7-5) last weekend.
The maroon will participate in the OUA West Regional Round-Robin tournament on the weekend with OUA Championship implications. The Marauders will face off against the Guelph Gryphons (10-2) and the Brock Badgers (5-5). The top team in the division will move on to the OUA Championship.
Key McMaster Players
- Josh Kalmin (Vaughan, Ont.): Kalmin had a solid final regular season as a Marauder. The right-hander pitched a complete game shutout against the Western Mustangs and finished the season with a 1-2 record in three starts, he recorded five strikeouts.
- Justin Meade (Brampton, Ont.): The 5'7 outfielder had a very strong offensive season, notching hits, driving in dive RBIs and eight stolen bases.
- Nicolas Velocci (Newmarket, Ont.): The 6'2 infielder was a force for the Marauders offense. Velocci had a .393 Batting Average, and 3 RBIs on the season. Notably, Velocci was instrumental in the Marauders final two games of the season against the York Lions. Velocci had four hits, scored four runs and an RBI on the day.
The Marauders are going to bring their "A" game over the weekend as they try to earn their way to an OUA Championship. Marauders Head Coach,
