From Sudbury, the Marauders dueled against the Laurentian Voyageurs, and won in a fourth quarter upset.
Number 21 on the Marauders, Mike Demagus led all scores with 21 points, while AY Osunde and Tyler Garcia made their names known on the stats sheet with 17 points respectively.
Out of the 7 plays resulting in points, in the first quarter, AY Osunde was at the front of 4 of them. 2 of those being three pointers. Osunde got the offensive juices flowing for the Marauders, While from the first and on,
Underway in the second, the Voyageurs found their way ahead of the Marauders. Based on viewing, the Marauders were taking longer with ball movement and were falling unlucky with baskets landing, however their opponents were monopolizing on the fast breaks. In what felt like a closer game than it was, the Voyageurs were able to push an eight point lead.
The Voyagers played a slower third, and forced the Marauders to the lowest scoring quarter of the game, with only 13. Looking at the board, the Marauders were down 49-55, which with the trajectory of the game, would need a large final quarter regroup if the Marauders pulled out the win.
In the Fourth, the Voyagers struggled to play with the Marauders full court press. Seeing the imbalance, the Marauders soared. With 7 minutes to go in the game, Demagus made a fadeaway bucket, directly followed by Tyler Garcia with the layup, and suddenly the Marauders tied the game for the first time since the first quarter. As time ticked down, the heat kept blazing. Laurentian had made a big jumper with 3:45 on the clock. Garcia responded with a half court three to silence the crowd, and pick up the one point lead.
For the win, Garcia nailed two free throws to put the Marauders spontaneous lead in double digits, 81-71.
