The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team played the Nipissing Lakers, for the two's first square off of the season.
While on the road, the Marauders went to town, 104-74.
The duo of
Moody Qasim and
AY Osunde both posted 23 points, respectively.
Mike Demagus joined in double figures with 17 points.
Nathan Charles rounded out the Marauders in double figures with 11 rebounds.
The Marauders opened the game, and went storming. In the first, Nipissing was managing to keep up, but the Marauders started to peel away. With five 3-pointers landing, and a strong 52.9% from the field, the men in Maroon worked their way into the second quarter up by 29-17.
The blowout continued from there. Dominating further the second quarter found its end by a 9 point run with under two minutes to go. With a full time out for the Marauders remaining, the clock sounded and the squad led 54-38.
In the third Quarter, the Marauders were able to stretch their lead to the largest of the night with 33 on top of the Lakers. Despite being unable to close the deficit, the Lakers made the Marauders play all 40 minutes.
Overall, both rosters forced turnovers well, with 11 for McMaster and 13 for Nipissing. Alongside, sharing the wealth with respective 31 bench points per team. Ultimately, the Marauders outrebounded, outshot and outscored the Lakers, 104-74.
