Wrestlers earn five medals in Toronto

After impressing at the previous two competitions this season, the McMaster wrestling team continued its success with five podium finishes for three silver medals and a pair of bronze.

A first-year from Bradford, Ont., Adrian Winter won three straight matches in the 61kg weight class to earn a spot in the gold medal match. Winter, a rookie studying Engineering, fell to a Guelph Gryphon but earned his first varsity medal for the Marauders – a silver.

A third-year Marauder, Luken Lawson added a bronze to the team total in the 76kg weight class. He won four contests on Sunday to ensure he returned to Hamilton with some hardware.

The McMaster men ended the team competition with 21 points to finish in fourth. The Marauders finished eight points back of the bronze medalist Guelph Gryphons.
