The McMaster Marauders were on the road tonight to re-match the York Lions, where they were left with an undesired and challenging 2-0 loss.
The loss was not only McMaster's first of the season, but the first since the teams OUA Playoff run of the 2022 season.
From the outset, it was clear that this was going to be a closely contested match. The Lions felt the heat after their last matchup with the Marauders, leading them to come out blazing. The game started with both teams demonstrating strong defensive skills, and neither side gave the other many offensive opportunities. In the 24th minute, the Lions found the back of the net off of a corner. Just as the Marauders were down, within two minutes the York squad sent a ball into the mesh, and York was set with a 2-0 lead.
After halftime, the Marauders were determined to score and took four high-quality shots during the half. However, the Lions' defense remained steadfast and successfully denied every scoring opportunity from Mac.
While it was not the desired result, the squad has more work to do and will need to keep their heads up as they move into their next match.
What's Next?
The McMaster Marauders head home to play the Guelph Gryphons, for the first time of the season, on Saturday October 7th at 1pm.
