HAMILTON, Ont. - The McMaster women's basketball team recorded its sixth straight victory this weekend to improve its record to 11-4. The Marauders defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds 96-52 Saturday night in Burridge Gymnasium.
Sarah Gates (Newmarket, Ont.) led McMaster offensively, finishing the game with a game-high 27. Three other Marauder players scored in double digits in the win with
Mia Spadafora (Hannon, Ont.) scoring 15 points,
Cassie Joli-Coeur (Johnstown, Ont.) recording 12 points and
Delaney Bourget (Sudbury, Ont.) adding 13 points off the bench.
The Marauders wasted no time finding their stride, going up 12-2 early in the first quarter and led 24-9 heading into the second. The Marauders outscored Algoma 25-17 in the second quarter for a 23-point half time lead. The maroon and grey squad never looked back on way to a 44-point win.
McMaster finished the game shooting 50% from the floor and 40.6% from beyond the arc while Algoma went to 28% from the field and 19 per cent from 3-point range.
