HAMILTON, Ont. - In the second half of the first weekend series of 2023, the Marauders looked to add another win to its resume.
After dropping the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday, the Nipissing Lakers were Saturday night's opponent.
Knocking down fourteen 3-pointers throughout the contest, the Marauders never trailed and grabbed an 82-49 victory over the Lakers, moving to 9-4 on the season to sit in top spot in the OUA Central division.
McMaster took a quick 5-0 lead to open the game. The Marauders continued to find the basket, holding a 19-8 lead after the first quarter.
The second stanza was more of the same from the Marauders who shot 45% from the field and 66.7% from three-point range. The home team led 43-28 at the halftime break.
McMaster had their best quarter of play in the third, putting up 25 points while holding Nipissing to just 10. The Marauders maintained the advantage after 30 minutes of play - 68-38.
The Lakers held the Marauders to just 14 points in the final quarter, but the home squad never relinquished its lead, taking the game by an 82-49 final.
McMaster currently sits in top spot in the OUA Central division and sixth overall in the OUA standings.
Sarah Gates (Newmarket, Ont.) led the way for the Marauders with 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Jenna Button (Dundas, Ont.) (12) and
Cassie Joli-Coeur (Johnstown, Ont.) (10) were the other Marauders to finish the night in double-digits.

The Marauders will now shift their focus to this Wednesday's contest with the Brock Badgers before returning to Burridge Gymnasium on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 6PM both days.
