HAMILTON, Ont. - After starting 2023 with a win last weekend, the McMaster Marauders women's basketball team looked to extend its win streak to four.

On Friday night, the Laurentian Voyageurs made the trip down from Sudbury for a match-up with the hometown Marauders.
Holding Laurentian to just seven points in the fourth quarter, the Marauders earned the victory, dropping the Voyageurs by a 72-59 scoreline.

Senior guard,
Sarah Gates (Newmarket, Ont.), recorded her fourth 30+ point OUA performance of the season, adding 11 rebounds and three steals.
Arianne Soriano (Mississauga, Ont.) and
Deanna Mataseje (Ancaster, Ont.) combined for 15 points while
Clare Sharkey (Newmarket, Ont.) had 10 rebounds.
Laurentian and McMaster started the opening quarter exchanging baskets but it was the Marauders who held the 18-12 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Both teams continued to battle in the second and combined for 34 points but it was the home squad that continued to lead at the halftime break - 35-29.
The Voyageurs edged closer in the third quarter, posting 23 points, but the Marauders put up 20 to hold a three point advantage headed into the final frame.
The home team separated themselves in the fourth quarter, posting 17 points while holding the Voyageurs to just three baskets to earn the 72-59 win.
