Marauder men to take on Voyageurs and Lakers this weekend

HAMILTON, Ont. –  Coming off of a three-game win streak, the Marauders are looking strong as they head into back-to-back home games this upcoming weekend. McMaster will first face the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday night and then battle the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 8:00 PM both nights.

The Marauders last battled the Laurentian Voyageurs in 2019. The lead went back and forth all game in a very tight battle. Ultimately, it was the Voyageurs that came out on top, taking the game 97-85. Laurentian is currently ranked 14th in the OUA, and are 2-9. The Voyageurs are coming off of a two game losing streak after falling to Laurier in the final competition of 2022, and a 65-89 loss against the Algoma Thunderbirds this past Sunday. After taking on the Voyageurs, the Marauders will then take on the Nipissing Lakers.

McMaster faced Ontario Tech this past Friday. In a very tight game, it was ultimately the Marauders who took the win 77-63. The Marauders ended the first half in the lead, outscoring the Ridgebacks 15-13 in the first, and 21-19 in the second for a half-time score of 36-32. Mike Demagus (Scarborough, Ont.) had no issues finding the bucket, posting an astounding 24 points. Mychael Paulo (Brampton, Ont.), recorded 14 points while Johnny Kitenge (Oshawa, Ont.) and Khalil Miller (Scarborough, Ont.) posted 11 points each.

McMaster and Nipissing are familiar foes, having battled six times since 2015. The Marauders won four of the last six match-ups, beating Nipissing 83-53 in 2015, 81-65 in 2016, 90-75 in 2017 and 90-86 in 2019. The 12th ranked Lakers are coming off of a win after a tough battle with the Algoma Thunderbirds this past Friday, ending the game 86-75. Nipissing is currently 4-7.

The tenth ranked Marauders are currently 6-5 and are looking to continue the win streak this upcoming weekend.
