WINDSOR, Ont. - The Marauders women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season last weekend and in Week 3, faced off with the Windsor Lancers in two games.
The Marauders and Lancers drew both games by the same 1-1 scoreline and each collected two points from this weekend's series.
Friday September 16 - Hamilton, Ont.
In Friday's contest at Ron Joyce Stadium, the Marauders opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a goal from
Bryanna Caldwell (Tottenham, Ont.), her second of the season. The lead held until the 42nd minute when the Lancers found the back of the net to even the score at 1-1 which stood until the final whistle.
The two teams were evenly-matched, each with 13 shots apiece throughout the 90 minutes of play.
Emilie Calabrese (Ancaster, Ont.),
Ignacia Jimenez (Ancaster, Ont.) and
Georgia Merriman (Guelph, Ont.) led the attack for the Marauders. Windsor had 10 shots on goal to McMaster's six.Â
Alexandra Mudie (Burlington, Ont.) made nine saves to pick up the tie for her personal record. Both teams earned a point.
Sunday September 18Â - Windsor, Ont.
In the rematch on Sunday, things unfolded similarly to how they did two nights earlier. The first half was relatively quiet with McMaster leading by one in the shot category after 45 minutes of play. The second half saw the teams combine for two goals.
Bryanna Caldwell netted her third goal of the season in the 52nd minute of play to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.
Ignacia Jimenez picked up the assist. Twelve minutes later, Windsor responded to tie the game. Despite chances from both teams in the final 26 minutes of play, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.Â
Alexandra Mudie was very strong in goal, making seven saves. McMaster managed five shots on goal, but had an additional six just miss the net.

Ignacia Jimenez and
Tiam Pourbakhtiari (Richmond Hill, Ont.) each tallied two shots during the contest.
The Marauders now sit at 1-2-3 in the standings whereas the Lancers are 2-1-3 after three weeks of action.
