The McMaster Marauders men's wrestling team is thrilled to welcome their newest recruit to the 2022-23 class with the signing of Gregor Mcneil to the program.

"There are levels to every sport and without a doubt, Gregor McNeil excels at the highest of levels," said Head Coach, Wresting, Ahmed Shamiya. "Above all, he is a person of integrity on and off the mats."

During his high school years, Mcneil captured gold at the OFSAA Championships in his grade nine year competing for the Newtonbrook Secondary School in Toronto, before heading south of the border, capturing the New York State Championship in 2019 for Hilton High School.

Mcneil then took his talents to Wyoming Seminary Secondary School where he graduated with an interest in the Business program at McMaster.

"The choice of attending McMaster came down to three main sections; academics, athletics and social life," continued Mcneil, "I believe McMaster checked the boxes for all three."

"My goal is to help McMaster Wrestling achieve both an OUA and CIS team title," said Mcneil. "I also plan to continue competing for team Canada."

Outside of high school, Mcneil sports an impressive resume having represented Team Canada for three years from 2017 to 2020, capturing a silver medal at the 2018 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Mcneil also captured gold at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

"He will be an amazing addition to our team culture, and I cannot wait to work with him in the future," added Shamiya.
