The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team wrapped up their series with the York Lions on Saturday night in Toronto.
After leading by as much as 26 points, the Marauders grabbed a 95-72 victory over the Lions, sweeping the 2022-23 series with York.
York scored the first two points of the opening quarter but McMaster went up just a minute and a half into the contest. The Marauders held the advantage into the quarter break, leading 20-18 after 10 minutes of play.
The Marauders continued the momentum in the second stanza, shooting 57.9% from the field while holding the Lions to just 19 points. The visitors led 48-37 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, the Lions found their stride but the Marauders kept pace, holding onto the lead after 30 minutes of play - 74-60.
York tried to climb back into the game in the final 10 minutes of play, but the Marauders held onto the lead to finish the game on top 95-72.
McMaster closed out the calendar year with back-to-back wins and ended 2022 on a high note.
Mike Demagus (Scarborough, Ont.) led the way for the Marauders with 18 points.

Khalil Miller (Scarborough, Ont.),
AY Osunde (Scarborough, Ont.) and
Tyler Garcia (Mississauga, Ont.) all scored in double-figures with a combined 54 points. McMaster pulled in 36 rebounds and recorded 15 second-chance points in the victory.
Next Up
The Marauders will now take the rest of December to prepare for the second half of the season. McMaster will open 2023 on home court on January 6th against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
