GUELPH, Ont. - With four Marauders in double digits, the McMaster men's basketball team picked up the win in a rare Wednesday night contest in Guelph.
The Marauders earned a hard fought win in the mid-week contest to start the weekend on the right foot.
Wednesday's contest was a tight one all night long. The Marauders went up 4-0 early in the first quarter but the Gryphons responded to make the score after 10 minutes 22-21 in favour of Guelph.
Shooting 58.8% from the field, the Marauders scored 27 points in the second to find themselves up 48-46 at the halftime break.
Guelph came out of the half pushing for the victory and, after shooting 60% from the field in the third, put up a 20 points to lead 66-63 with 10 minutes remaining in the contest.
The final frame was full of excitement from both teams. The Gryphons continued to drive the net early in the fourth but the Marauders reclaimed the lead with just 2:13 remaining and wouldn't relinquish it, earning McMaster the victory.
Sefa Otchere (Niagara Falls, Ont.) (21),
Khalil Miller (Scarborough, Ont.) (14),
Tyler Garcia (Mississauga, Ont.) (11) and
Mike Demagus (10) all scored in double digits for a combined 56 points. Miller added 13 rebounds to record the team's only double-double.

The Marauders will now face the York Lions in the final contest of the calendar year. On Saturday December 3rd, the Marauders will travel to Toronto for an 8PM tip-off to close out 2022.
