Marauders to take on York Lions and Queen’s Gaels at home this weekend

HAMILTON, Ont. –  After a tough start to the OUA basketball season, McMaster will look to change the momentum and protect Burridge Gym as they take on the York Lions Friday at 8pm, and then take on the Queen's Gaels Sunday at 3pm in their home-opener weekend.

McMaster and York have not faced each other since the 2019-20 season, where the Marauders narrowly beat the Lions 83-82 in their first matchup. In their second competition, the Marauders dropped the Lions 95-72. After coming up short against the Ottawa Gee-Gees (67-97) and the Carleton Ravens (68-82), McMaster looks to get back into the win column this weekend against the York Lions. The Lions are also coming off of a tough weekend after falling 66-97 against the Carleton Ravens, and 65-88 against the Ottawa Gee-Gees. With both teams looking for their first win this weekend, competition should be fierce.

After taking on the Lions Friday at 8pm, McMaster will remain at home to battle it out with the Queen's Gaels on Sunday at 3pm.

The last time that the Gaels and Marauders met was during the 2019-20 season where the Gaels narrowly beat the Marauders 95-97. After a hard-fought weekend, McMaster looks to change the momentum with a win this weekend. Mychael Paulo (Brampton, Ont) had a strong weekend, leading the Marauders with 20 points against the Gee-Gees, and with 25 points against the Ravens. Teammate Mike Demagus (Scarborough, Ont.) put up 17 points against the Ravens. The Queen's Gaels are coming off of back-to-back wins after dropping Laurentian 92-51 and defeating Nipissing 98-84. The Marauders have something to prove this weekend as they take on the 2021-22 OUA West Semi-Finalists.
