The Marauders and Thunderwolves shot well over their season averages from the field to start the game, recording 66.7% and 57.1%, respectively. After ten minutes of play, the Marauders led 27-21.

The offence was well on display in the second stanza but McMaster struggled to contain Lakehead on defence. The Thunderwolves put up a season high 37 points in the second quarter to hold a 58-53 advantage at the halftime break.

In the third quarter, the Marauders struggled to score from outside the arc and at the line, recording just 13 points to the Thunderwolves' 21.
