Marauders to take on Lakehead Thunderwolves away this weekend

HAMILTON, Ont. – After a tough start to the OUA basketball season against some of the top ranked teams in the OUA, McMaster will look to return to the win column this weekend as they hit the road. The Marauders will take on the 5-1 Lakehead Thunderwolves this weekend. The teams will battle back-to-back at 8:00 PM both Friday and Saturday in at LU Fieldhouse in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Marauders battled the TMU Bold in Burridge Gymnasium on Friday night. Mike Demagus (Scarborough, Ont.) led the Marauders with 18 points. McMaster had a strong game with 16 assists, 34 bench points, and 16 assists. The Marauders also recorded a free-throw percentage of 72.4. McMaster secured the win, beating the Bold 75-68. On Saturday, McMaster hosted long-standing rivals, the Brock Badgers. After a close battle, it was the Badgers that took the game 75-67. AY Osunde (Scarborough, Ont.) and Sefa Otchere (Niagara Falls, Ont.) each scored 13 points, while Khalil Miller (Scarborough, Ont.) posted 11 rebounds. McMaster currently sits 2-4 in the OUA West.

McMaster and Lakehead are familiar foes, having battled twice during the regular season and once in playoffs. Lakehead won the first regular season match in a tight 83-84 game. McMaster came back with a vengeance, winning the second match-up 91-80. The Marauders and Thunderwolves met up one final time in the OUA Quarter-finals with the Marauders taking the win 94-82. The fourth ranked Thunderwolves are coming off of back-to-back wins this past weekend, first beating the Ottawa Gee-Gees 69-65, then beating the Laurier Golden Hawks 78-63.
