NEW PROVINCIAL COVID RULES TAKE EFFECT SEPT. 22 - IMPACTS ON ATHLETIC FACILITIES

The Ontario government's new rules for the Ontario Vaccine Passport under the Reopening Ontario Act take effect on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021. Athletics and Recreation indoor facilities, including but not limited to The Pulse Fitness Centre, in-person fitness classes, instructional programming, varsity sports & practices, High Performance Area and the pool (excluding the David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre), will require proof of full vaccination and ID in order to participate in athletic programs, sporting events and to use the workout areas and other indoor recreational facilities.

Proof of full-vaccination (2nd dose plus 14 days), and a valid government issued photo ID is now required for entry to the David Braley Athletic Centre and all indoor recreational activities and services,

Before you come to DBAC, make sure that you have:

  1. Proof of vaccination - this can be your digital receipt or a paper copy
  2. Valid government issued identification with photo
  3. Completed your daily attestation in MacCheck or the McMaster Safety app and received a green checkmark

Proof of full vaccination and ID are required to enter many establishments in the province including restaurants and gym facilities. A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccination regime, or one dose of a one dose vaccine.  Additional information on vaccinations and McMaster's Vaccine Policy is available on the Back to Mac website.

The university will continue to review the provincial regulations and any additional changes the government may introduce.
